Anuradhapura is probably not only the oldest city in Sri Lanka, but was also the most important city for centuries. Minneriya National Park is also known as ‘The Gathering’. In this park you will find the largest gathering of Asian elephants in the world. Polonnaruwa is one of the ancient royal cities of Sri Lanka. In Polonnaruwa you can see many temples, ruins and other places of interest. For culture lovers, this centrally located city is therefore a great destination.

Day 1: Anuradhapura – Minneriya

Your adventure begins with a convenient pickup from your hotel or the airport. We’ll journey to the historic town of Chilaw, where we’ll visit the sacred Munneswaram Temple, a significant Hindu pilgrimage site.

Next, we’ll explore the coastal town of Puttalam, renowned for its salt production. We’ll visit a salt factory and witness the traditional methods of salt harvesting.

Our journey continues to the ancient city of Anuradhapura, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We’ll wander through the ruins of ancient palaces, temples, and stupas, marveling at the architectural wonders of a bygone era.

To conclude our day, we’ll embark on a thrilling wildlife safari in Minneriya National Park. We’ll have the opportunity to observe majestic herds of wild elephants in their natural habitat, along with other fascinating wildlife.

Day 2: Polonnaruwa – Airport

After a delicious breakfast, we’ll embark on a journey to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We’ll wander through the ruins of this once-great kingdom, marveling at the intricate carvings and majestic structures.

We’ll visit the iconic Vatadage, a circular shrine with stunning stone carvings, the Gal Vihara, renowned for its magnificent stone sculptures of the Buddha, the impressive Audience Hall, and the towering Rankot Vihara.

After a day of exploring this ancient wonder, we’ll transport you back to the airport or your hotel.
