Start your tour at the Galle Face Beach, a half-kilometer promenade in the heart of Colombo. Learn about the history of the beach, which was initially laid out in 1859 by Sir Henry Ward, Governor of British Ceylon. The stretch of land was used for horse racing and golf and was known as the Colpetty Race Course.
Next, visit the Old Colombo Dutch Hospital, considered to be the oldest building in the Colombo Fort area dating back to the Dutch colonial era in Sri Lanka. It is now a heritage building and a shopping and dining precinct.
Continue to the Gangaramaya Temple, one of the most important temples in Colombo, being a mix of modern architecture and cultural essence. Located on the Beira Lake, it was completed in the late 19th century.
Visit the Nelum Pokuna Theatre, a performing arts center in Colombo. The theater opened on 15 December 2011. Next, see the Lotus Tower, a 351.5 m tall tower, located in Colombo. It has been called a symbolic landmark of Sri Lanka.
Head to the National Museum of Natural History, a museum that covers the natural heritage of Sri Lanka. The museum is located closer to the National Museum of Colombo. It was established on September 23, 1986 and became the only museum in Sri Lanka that represents natural history and natural heritage.
Visit the Viharamahadevi Park, a public park located in Cinnamon Gardens, in Colombo, situated in front of the colonial-era Town Hall in Sri Lanka. It was built by the British colonial administration and is the oldest and largest park of Colombo.
End your tour at the Town Hall of Colombo, the headquarters of the Colombo Municipal Council and the office of the mayor of Colombo. Built in front of the Viharamahadevi Park, Colombo, it is the meeting place for the elected municipal council.
